Kiwi fruits: how to select and store them?

Do you really know how to choose and store kiwi fruits whether you want to enjoy them right away or wait a few days? Here are a few tips to pick the best Oscar® kiwis on the stalls.

When buying kiwi fruits, it’s better to choose plump, fragrant and slightly soft fruits as they will be sweeter. Harder kiwis would be unripe and more sour with astringent taste. Then it’s up to you, depending on how you like them most!

If only firm kiwi fruits are available, they will continue to ripen after you buy them. Regarding the fluffy skin, look for fruits with firm and unblemished skin, free from wrinkles and bruises. Just so you know, there is no correlation between fruit size and fruit quality. Big or small, it doesn’t matter!

If you want to eat the fruits right away, store them in a fruit basket at away from exposure to sunlight. To ripen them faster, you can also place them with apples, bananas or pears on the counter or in a paper bag for a few days at room temperature. That will definitely speed up the process. To slow down ripening, you’d better store kiwi fruits on their own in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.

Having an Oscar® kiwi fruit at breakfast is surely part of your morning routine to stock up on vitamins, fiber and other minerals but you should also try our delicious and simple recipes!
