SCAAP Kiwifruits de France
SCAAP Kiwifruits de France: the first French kiwifruit producer
In 1982, kiwifruit farmers in the south of France are united to create SCAAP Kiwifruits de France. The headquarters is located at Labutat, in the Landes region. There are now 350 farmers who produce the Oscar kiwi, and their co-operative organization allows them to implement solidarity and mutualist principles on a daily basis. SCAAP is:
- A technical service that is adapted to each orchard
- A support system for the plantation
- Specialised structures around kiwifruit production
- Expertise in sales and marketing
Since 2003, other co-operatives have joined the co-operative union, Alliance Kiwi France, which represents a quarter of the country’s production.
